Hello

My work brings together many years of clinical practice, research, teaching, and international experience, yet at its heart it remains deeply personal. Whether you are seeking therapy, clinical supervision, or simply wanting to understand more about my background, I hope the information below gives you a sense of who I am. Most importantly, I hope it helps you feel whether this might be the right space for you.

My Story

Coming to therapy often begins with a feeling rather than a clear plan. Something may not feel quite right, or perhaps something has been carried for a long time and is becoming harder to hold alone.

My own path into integrative psychotherapy grew from a deep interest in how people change and heal. I originally trained in clinical hypnotherapy, where I learned the importance of working carefully, respectfully, and at the pace of the individual. Over time, my practice naturally expanded to include EMDR, Ego State Therapy, Inner Child work, Energy Psychology, and broader integrative psychotherapy approaches — allowing me to draw on different perspectives depending on what feels most appropriate for each person.

A continuing area of interest for me is psychoneuroimmunology — the mind–body connection — and how emotions, trauma, and prolonged stress influence physical health and the immune system. I am particularly interested in helping people feel more empowered in their emotional response to illness or injury, supporting them to relate differently to what their body is experiencing, rather than feeling defined or overwhelmed by it.

Earlier in my career, I worked in psychopharmacology research at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, exploring how medication, brain chemistry, and emotional experience interact. That scientific grounding continues to inform my therapeutic work, giving me a steady, evidence-informed understanding of how the nervous system and body respond to both emotional strain and positive change.

Over the years, I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds and cultures, both in the UK and internationally. People often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, emotionally disconnected, or unsure why things feel as they do. You do not need to have everything clearly worked out before beginning. Therapy can be a place where understanding unfolds gently, safely, and without pressure.

Alongside my clinical practice, I have developed and written numerous courses in clinical hypnotherapy, EMDR, Ego State Therapy, and other psychotherapy disciplines that have been delivered worldwide. I wrote an MSc course in Clinical Hypnotherapy for the University of West London, a leading British university, and served as its Programme Leader. I have also been instrumental in establishing the Hypnotherapy Pain Management Clinic and pain research programme at University of Malaya Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, co-supervised doctoral research at the University of Cyberjaya exploring the effectiveness of online clinical hypnotherapy during the pandemic lockdown, and act as a consultant to the Hypnotherapy Unit at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

I regularly lecture to the international medical community on clinical hypnosis and integrative psychotherapy and am frequently invited to speak at conferences around the world. I was delighted to serve as hypnotherapy advisor for The Archers on BBC Radio 4 — a programme I have listened to since childhood. I am also co-author of Hypnotherapy for Dummies and Self-Hypnosis for Dummies, and can often be heard on radio and podcasts discussing psychotherapy, the mind, health, and wellbeing.

I currently serve as Director of Studies for the LSCCH–LCCH Group, which trains therapists across the UK, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia, and as President of the British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy. I also carry out clinical supervision with therapists internationally. I am a Fellow and past President of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and a Fellow of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists.

Yet at the heart of all of this work — whether in research, writing, teaching, leadership, or speaking — is the same intention I bring into the therapy room: to create a calm, respectful space where people feel met, understood, and supported to move forward in a way that feels right for them.

If you are considering therapy and wondering whether this might be the right place for you, you are warmly invited to get in touch and explore that possibility at your own pace.
